Course Flexibility and Assessment

Assignments

Web Quest Package (10%)
Questionnaires (2 at 10% each)
Quiz #1 (5%)
Presentation (20%)
Career Profile (25%)
Quiz #2: "Leave No Trace" (5%)
Field Trip Logbook (15%)

The previously listed assignments will address all of the learning outcomes for Adventure & Ecotourism 1 and, as such, students must complete all assignments to complete the course.

Flexibility

The majority of the assignments will be completed at each student's pace. After completing an assignment, the student may collect the next assignment from the teacher and begin. There are however, due dates that must be met in order to maintain the learning focus of the class. Assignments such as the questionnaires, presentation, and career profiles must be finished by the assignment due date to be shared with the class. The "Leave No Trace" quiz MUST be completed before the camping trip.

If circumstances require more work time on assignments that are to be presented, speak to your teacher as soon as possible in order to schedule a later date to share your work.

Differentiation

Assessment in this course is based on the individual student's abilities and not in comparison to the other students in the course. While most of the course will be student led, the course can easily be adapted to teacher led for individuals or groups of students.

Assessment Tools

The students in this course will be assessed with a variety of assessment tools.
  • Minor assignments such as the questionnaires and logbook will be assessed with checklists

  • Major assignments such as the presentation and career profile will be assessed with rubrics

  • Formative assessment will be taken via the two course material quizzes

  • The field trip logbook will also serve as a medium for summative assessment
