Adventure and Ecotourism 1 will culminate in an overnight camping trip near Beaver Mines. Prior to departure, students will have written the "Leave No Trace" quiz. Over the course of the camping trip, students will record in a logbook the different steps they are taking as Leave No Trace campers. The final camping trip will fully immerse the students in an ecotourism activity.

Camping Trip
Adventure and Ecotourism 1 will culminate in an overnight camping trip near Beaver Mines. Prior to departure, students will have written the "Leave No Trace" quiz. Over the course of the camping trip, students will record in a logbook the different steps they are taking as Leave No Trace campers. The final camping trip will fully immerse the students in an ecotourism activity.

The previously listed assignments will address all of the learning outcomes for Adventure & Ecotourism 1 and, as such, students must complete all assignments to complete the course.
Flexibility
The majority of the assignments will be completed at each student's pace. After completing an assignment, the student may collect the next assignment from the teacher and begin. There are however, due dates that must be met in order to maintain the learning focus of the class. Assignments such as the questionnaires, presentation, and career profiles must be finished by the assignment due date to be shared with the class. The "Leave No Trace" quiz MUST be completed before the camping trip.
If circumstances require more work time on assignments that are to be presented, speak to your teacher as soon as possible in order to schedule a later date to share your work.
Differentiation
Assessment in this course is based on the individual student's abilities and not in comparison to the other students in the course. While most of the course will be student led, the course can easily be adapted to teacher led for individuals or groups of students.

Certification Opportunity
Leave No Trace Trainer certification may be awarded by a registered LNT Master Trainer to students who successfully meet the outcomes of Tourism 1120: Adventure & Ecotourism 1.

Tourism 1120 can prepare students in many different ways for future recreational or career focused purposes.
Recreational:
- Students will be exposed to many different adventure and ecotourism activities
- From whitewater rafting, to mountain climbing, to geocaching, students will explore the quickly growing list of activities popular among adventure tourists
- In true ecotourist fashion, students will practice "Leave No Trace" methods while attending their course-end camping trip
- Students will gain experience planning adventure and ecotourism activities and vacations
Career Focused:
- Students will be exposed to various careers related to adventure and ecotourism through their career profile assignment
